At VSS our allied health practitioners collaborate with participants to identify and analyse concerns, provide treatment, and promote skill development, rehabilitation, and enablement.
Allied health initiatives can often decrease or eliminate the need for medical procedures by offering therapeutic support. Therapeutic supports assist in the development of functional abilities and independence.
They are supports that help with many aspects of everyday living such as getting around, forming positive connections, personal care, interacting with others, and engaging in the community.
We pride ourselves on being able to support and rehabilitate NDIS participants with all manner of ailments, which is why we offer NDIS for mental health, chronic physical illnesses, injuries, and more.
Occupational Therapy
VSS offers occupational therapy services to participants with NDIS funding for assessment, recommendations, and therapy. Occupational therapists are especially important in assisting individuals with disabilities in assessing and identifying their needs and implementing techniques that enable them to participate in life activities and in professions.
Occupational therapists work to improve people’s health and wellbeing by enabling them to take part in daily activities such as dressing, cooking, and showering, as well as productive activities such as work, volunteering, education and caring for others. In addition, they assist participants with engaging in community and leisure activities like participating in a hobby, joining a community or friendship group.
Physiotherapy
VSS has experienced physiotherapists who can provide services to participants with NDIS funding for physiotherapy treatment. They can be engaged in evaluation, diagnosis, planning and management of the participants’ care.
Physiotherapy treatments include heat therapy, massage, and exercise to treat injury, sickness, or deformity for a variety of ailments, including sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders, as well as chronic illnesses such as osteoarthritis, stroke, diabetes, and obesity.
Mental Health Care / Psychology
Our psychological, emotional, and social well-being is all part of our mental health. It has an impact on the way we think, act and feel. It also influences how we interact with others, make decisions, and deal with anxiety and stress. Mental health is crucial at all stages of life, from childhood to adolescence and maturity. Mental health issues are widespread, but the good news is that people with mental health issues can improve, and many will recover entirely.
Participants’ mental health well-being is one of our main focuses as one of the top NDIS mental health providers in Melbourne. At VSS we are highly experienced in promoting resilience by helping participants discover their strengths. Our professional psychologists provide clinical and counselling services. They take individuals through steps of discovering the main causes of the issues in a non-judgemental, safe, and peaceful environment. They listen to the participants and their family and carers patiently and help them discover root-causes of the problems and introduce the best possible methods and solutions to them. They then accompany them throughout their way of healing and getting their power back. At VSS, we see NDIS for mental health as an absolutely necessary part of our communities, and strive to change the lives of those suffering from poor mental health and the lives of the people around them.
Dr Fariba Kavianpour is a Clinical Psychologist who has been empowering many people with a great passion for inclusion and quality life in both public and private sectors since 2007. As an approved supervisor, she provides supervision for provisional psychologists as well as supervising psychology students. She manages a team of NDIS mental health psychologists who assess and treat children, teenagers, and adults with different emotional and mental health issues such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Anxiety Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, and Psychotic Disorders. They also assist clients with personal development and growth with a range of concerns such as weight management and low self-esteem, as well as providing Couple Therapy.
Another unique service that VSS offers to the NDIS participants as part of our NDIS mental health programs is Implementation of Behavioural Support Plan. Our experienced clinical psychologists consult with the participants, their families, and carers to investigate the needs of the participant with complex behaviours of concern. Implementation of the Behavioural Support Plan requires experienced allied health professionals who are familiar with complex behavioural issues that some participants and their families face. Our psychologists in consultation with other professionals who have been part of creating the participant’s Behavioural Support Plan, and in collaboration with the participant and their families and carers, guide our dedicated and caring support workers to implement the Plan. If you’re looking for NDIS mental health providers with high-quality supports, you’ve definitely come to the right place.
