Home is a location that assists us in meeting our fundamental physiological demands and maintaining our existence. In this regard, home, not only satisfies sheltering needs, but also physiological needs. There is no better place to be than at home. It’s no surprise that a house is such a significant location for so many people because it is the physical incarnation of the people who live there. Having a suitable and safe shelter is one of the factors that boosts our motivation in life. It is important that you feel comfortable at your home and have easy access to the facilities that meet your needs.
Our team at VSS can support participants with accommodation and tenancy matters. We also have a team of professional registered builders who are available for any type of home modification from small jobs to major renovations. Home modifications are changes to your home’s construction, layout, or furnishings that allow you to live securely and freely. Examples of home modifications are:
The installation of hand-rails, adding safety locks and non-slip flooring, changes to your bathroom and kitchen, adjusting the heights of cabinet and benches, inserting lever taps, and expanding doors. Home changes can help you gain freedom and confidence in your everyday activities while also increasing your safety.
For those participants who have funding in their NDIS plan, we utilise that funding for their home modifications. For participants who are residing at government housing of any kind, our experienced team would contact their property managers to arrange required modifications or installation of new facilities.
Our experienced and adaptable support coordinators organise services that participants require with the goal of improving their life quality and increasing their independence.
